Flower Making Words Activity

In this activity students use the letters in the flower to make words. In this sheet the teacher will need to write in the letters he or she would like. Students then see what they can come up with and spell. It is a wonderful differentiated lesson because everyone should be able to make a word(s). I'm hoping to have a set of 3 Earth Day Whirling Wheels done today and bundled. Idea: In the rectangle shape have them write, "Ways to Love Earth." Then, under the flap everyone could write ways in which they could help. Here are ideas: plant, turn off electricity, turn water off...etc,. Happy Whirling!

Yesterday we started the writing organizers and today we worked on the draft for the Bunny Narrative Writing Piece. It was amazing to see how much my 3rd grade class was writing! It was very helpful to write a piece together as a class and then see what they could come up with.

Possible Application of Easter Eggs/Flash Cards

Today I used the pattern in the Tpt set "Easter Egg Patterns" to have the students create Geometry Flash Cards, but in an egg shape. We have been studying various aspects in Geometry lately. So, I had the students make these egg shaped flashcards with various Geometry terms. In culmination they could also color and decorate them.

Here are the ingredients for making one: 1. Dry Eraser Pen 1. Plastic Sleeve 1. An activity that you would like your students to erase and practice 1. Sturdy piece of board (though is is truly optional) for support 1. Paper towel that acts like an Eraser

Tip: If students leave the writing on the board at the end...it will usually cause the ink to adhere. So, it's a good idea that all erase when done so that the board has some serious longevity.

Area and Perimeter Concept

Area and Perimeter Activity

Today we did an area and perimeter activity with jelly beans. In my classroom and at my school in general we oftentimes use teacher made whiteboards (I will post next the items we use to make them).  In this activity we used an Area and Perimeter Grid to learn about these two math concepts. First, I taught my 3rd graders what area and perimeter are and then we drew various shapes to practice finding the concepts. Students used the JELLY BEANS to count the square units for each term. These makeshift whiteboards are great to use for Checking for Understanding because you can have the students hold them up as a group and do a quick check to see if everyone is getting the idea.

Application

So the students had a chance to make one of the Spring Whirling Wheels today. I gave them two options to choose from...One was to write in multiplication problems they still felt they needed to learn and master (as we have covered x already this year) and the other was to write in the 9's multiplication facts. Majority ruled with a vote to write in the 9's and study it for homework. The tricky 9's won! Those 9's... :) We are preparing to get ready to learn the longer and bigger digit problems soon, so the wheel is acting like a review.

{Spring Theme} Whirling Wheel

Here is one of "Whirling Wheels" A brad needs to be placed in the middle. Essentially students can practice a variety of information by turning the wheel. Photo instructions included in packaging. Thank you Jasmine for coloring! You're awesome!

Bunny Narrative Writing Bundled and Complete

The pieces for the Bunny Narrative Writing piece are finished and bundled! I included organizers for character development and creating a strong beginning, middle, and end to the story. I also made stationary that is in the form of a rectangle. So, there is an option to have an egg shape for the body or a rectangular one. Happy Bunny Writing!

Flower Pattern

Spring is here so I went ahead and made a flower pattern for teachers to use. It's a Freebie on my Tpt store.  This could be a great home activity too. I can see the little ones cutting it out... It is a great way to improve fine motor skills.

Mother's Day Card

This is my latest creation. It is a Mother's Day Card. This year Mother's Day is on May 11th. It is intended for teacher's to use with their students, but I realized last night that the flower is really good as a stand alone too. I thought...these would look great on a wedding table!
